Dear Pianola boffins,

I have acquired a Steck baby grand pianola which needs restoration.

I need to get to the hammers, now this is easy on an upright . . .disconnect a few tubes and the player part lifts out but . . .
on a grand I presume that the bed slides out on a kind of tray arrangement to facilitate access to hammers etc.

the grand pianola has tubes running through the bed which would seem to stop this happening?

your advice would be appreciated.

I have a Reblitz book on piano's on the way and will have to re-puchase his book on pianola maintenance / restoration methinks. :D
P.s, have tried tuning her myself . . .sound MUCH better but still a bit honky-tonk . . .may need several tunes, she was very out! :o

Simples!

there are two wooden plates underneath that screw to the bed . . .undo the screws and voila!

re-tubing at the mo, will clean up hammers and sort out dampers at the same time. :D

good job we are having a staycation!
